Well, for anyone that may have a similar issue as to what I have, I have discovered the fix. For me at least, the problem was that the SATA mode in my BIOS settings was set to AHCI, which is good and recommended for SSDs from what I can tell...but switching it back to the default IDE mode caused all my freezes and my PB kicks to go away. Problem Solved.
