What do you think, some of you have played it for months already, others have access since a couple of days. Is it more a shooter like PR:BF2 or a MILSIM like PR:Arma (RIP)?

I think it's too early to say, there's a whole schisse ton of tuning and systems to be implemented yet as far as I understand it

We're talking current version or the eventual release one? Either way I believe all devs agree with the PR style (good balance between realistic features but always fun and intuitive).

This being said I do believe there will be releases where there will be features maybe a bit to mil-sim before they get tuned.

I played it a couple of times, And I didn't like it.
Can't say it a shooter or MISLIM, I just don't like the gameplay so far.

But I know it's a Alpha and I really believe that it's going to be a great game, However ( maybe ) not in the same as BF2-PR.

We will see,

Dogmaster

We should all play this week at some point. If we have the feeling that SQD is drifting in a wrong direction we need to let the DEV's know. The younger playerbase is just like: "WOW, epic explosion!", lets give them some proper feedback if needed.

I think its destiny is milsim-ish with focus on teamwork and with great playability, but currently it is in no-man's-land between PR and ArmA. The playability is not there yet.

I want to be able to blow up houses/walls/trees with grenades and various other munitions (BTR should take out a mud and straw building in seconds). I want to be able to blow through a wall or door with a C4 shape charge.

I want to be able to pick up a ladder and place it against a wall - or get a buddy to kneel so I can get a leg up - and look over the top of the wall.

These are things that would add to the teamplay factor as well as the realism factor, without making it a full ArmA3 milsim clone.

If we don't get at least a few of these dynamics in Squad, it will just remain a wannabe Counterstrike like it is now.

I'm optimistic (it's early days) but at the same time I have no idea what the devs are thinking. Where do they see this going?

I played yesterday 1 or 2 hours and it feels more like a BF2 Vanilla.

No "PR like" feelings are coming up and it is definitely not, MILSIM like.

I agree with Yrkidding that it is still to early to say something meaningful about it.

It might take a lot of years for it to feel like a normal game. I'm imagining it in the phase where PR was when it was started. You had to improve it over and over again until it became what we have today. Same will go for Squad imo. Don't expect the game to meet your expectations now. The thing is, new engine is not limiting the developers now. That's why I think it might even surpass project reality in a few years.

Played it for the first time yesterday for about an hour. I'm glad it runs ok on my machine and a lot of the features, especially the menus, interface, controls and animations are great, as is the mumble integrations. Although I did stop after just 1 hour. It just feels a little unsatisfying at this stage in development. Not too milsim and the shooting felt decent enough. I think it just needs more well-practised players, fuller servers, more vehicles and better maps.

Basically it's got all the right ingredients to be a delicious teamwork FPS, but needs longer in the oven to make a satisfying experience. I would like to play with a few ducks to see if that improves things.

Anyone up for some Squad tomorrow? Perhaps showing a n00b the ropes? Or we could run a few squads and really help everyone on the server have a good time, while advertising 3dAC.

Cheers, Murkey.
