What is Wargame Strategy Tournament?

Image

The Wargame Strategy Tournament consists of two Cold war era alliances dashing it out for supremacy over northern Europe. Using the Wargame ALB and EE Strategy games, we aim to recreate a Cold war that went hot. We're using a campaign map which updates and shows the current situation of the war, with players taking positions in the ranks of NATO or PACT.

The Supreme Commanders decide which directions their team takes over the campaign map. Each region has its own gamemode and battlefield which will be played in-game. The outcome of the game then decides the ownership of the region. Choosing right direction can be vital for victory, as the team can be forced to a bad location in which they are constantly playing games in gamemodes which are not favoring them.

The campaign scoring is simple; your point pool is the combined value of regions under your control. Regions have a set value which decreases by one each time the region changes hands. You also get a permanent one point negative by losing an offensive battle.

The teams are to coordinate, plan and organize themselves, without a doubt the team which is willing to go the extra mile will be superior. The Command is keeping the team active and will be developing plans for battles. The admin team will keep the peace and moderate the players so the Tournament will stay clean and fair.

The games will be played with NATO or PACT decks, no requirements will be placed on the composition of your forces. This is until the AirLandBattle is released. Upon the release, the regiments will be assembled into national decks. The change will be further discussed as release approaches.

The battlefields will field two brigades which pitch against each other. A brigade contains two Regiments in which there are ten players. In each battle a Regiment will field four players.

We are hoping that the Tournament will be enjoyable for all of the players.

The Northern Ruse

Dismantle of the unaligned.

The war over Europe is stagnating, neither side is able to find a decisive blow to their enemy. NATO has already drawn plans for possible invasion trough the Nordic countries. While there has already been fighting over the border of Norway and the Soviet Union, the skirmishes has been very small. The PACT leadership, having realized the value of the Nordic territory as well, has been keeping a task force ready at the border of Finland.

As the combat got heavier without results, both sides came to the conclusion, attacking
trough the Nordic territories would give them the upper-hand. As forces built on both sides, the first one to get started would have the upper hand. And having the geographical advantage, the soviet union launched an attack into Finland.

The Finnish Defense Forces, who prepared only for war from the east, was taken by complete surprise as NATO forces landed on the southwestern part of Finland. Taking control of the capital and the surrounding areas within days, the attack from the west cut off the armies on the east and rendered them completely out of supplies. Finland was soon crushed under the overwhelming military and logistical pressure.

The third Great war for Europe is growing ever more fierce, which victor has yet to be decided. Unaligned countries are forced into the war and trampled upon, as the giants focus only on battling each other for the supremacy over Europe.

Finland with her independent integrity, ignored and tarnished, is forced to watch as PACT is marching over the Finnish countryside. All the while NATO forces are invading trough the urban centers. Greater battles over the Nordic lands are yet to be seen.

Which ideal will you struggle for?
